Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Isaiah 40:1
With the senseless tragedy in Arizona I can't help but wonder why? Why would a loving God allow such pain to enter into the victims lives? Why must their family endure such agony? There are people hurting all over this world. And there are people struggling in our own back yard. The only difference is the spot light is not shinning on them.
As Christians we are commanded to comfort others. Yet, we can not comfort unless we have been through the fires of life. With that said every divorce has a reason and a purpose. Every lost love can be used for Christ. Every medical emergency is a reason to call out to Christ.Every struggle that you may be facing right now can be a beacon to call others to the throne.
My fellow Christians God wants to use you and it may be in the bruising of the reed. We can not sew up the wounded heart or bind the hurting soul unless we ourselves have climbed the mountain of difficulties.
So it is through your struggles that you are the chosen. Could it be that God has chosen you to be the great comforter? Could it be that He has written your name before comforter and messenger behind it?
His unfailing love brought you out of the dungeons of your life and gave you a new song to sing. Let us not forget that it was in the aftermath of the deepest struggles of your life that the Great Physician arrived at your door step and administered his soothing balm. Always remember that all of your sorrow is completely erased by His unfailing love and forever grace.
You can not truely comfort
Until you have felt the pain.
You can not feel the sun basking
Until you have stood in the rain.
Slay me, beat me, break me Lord
So I can understand
The precious gift of all Your love
And the soothing of Your hand.
