Is Your Door Shut?

But you when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Any of us Christians that have a deep commitment to grow must also have a strong desire to pray. And the key to prayer is closing your door. A closed door means you have entered into the sanctuary to fellowship with our Father. A closed door means you have shut out the outside world and it's influences.

Now, deep within the inner chamber you can meet God face to face. Undisturbed and alone with God you may now listen for that still small voice. It is here where we meet the Holy Spirit. It is now that He can guide and direct us.

It is sad to say that many of us fall into a mundane rut when it comes to prayer. We call it prayer when we shoot up a two minute talk with Father. We can it prayer when we cry out, "Oh Father help me." Let us remember that our Father wants to reward us when we openly, diligently close the door, shut out the world and put Him on his throne. Won't you do that today?

How wrong I have been to call it prayer,
When I give you just bits of time.
Yet, in my worldly justification,
I would seldom call it a crime.

May my heart be totally honest.
In the fact that my door was not shut.
Please set my heart on eagles wings.
Don't let me pray in a rut.

So very true ... the world have so much to give to keep our gaze away from the Father. Spending time alone with God is rewarding and it's where we can let go of everything we have without reservation.
