"Quench not the spirit." 1st Thess. 5:19
In 1965 The Florida Gators football coach was frustrated. During the heat of the summer practices the team was sluggish. With a hope and a prayer he asked the team doctor for some help.
Robert Cade and his associates created a lip smacking, thirst quenching drink that changed the sports world in a most refreshing way. Out of a need and a request Gatorade was born.
As Christians we have the same quenching in the form of the Holy Spirit. Sent to refresh us, guide us and direct us unto the wishes of our Father. Without the Holy Spirit we walk the streets as an orphan. With it we live with a hope over flowing within us. With out it we are miss guided and miss directed as to Gods calling. With it we are sure we are compelled and called for a purpose.
God gave us the Holy Spirit as a counselor to allow us to be united in Christ through the Spirit. His voice becomes an announcement and a declaration that we will never be alone. And because of this we can do great things by means of the Holy Spirit. What a glorious promise this becomes. What an incredible gift has been bestowed upon us.
This positional truth becomes that as Christians He has placed the very spirit of God in us. It is this spirit that will convict you of your sins. It is the gentle tapping of the spirit that reveals truth. This truth when acted upon performs a change in us that elevates us to become more like Jesus. It is only by the work of the Holy Spirit that this cleansing change will illuminate us to bring glory to Christ.
If you live your Christian life with out the Holy Spirit then something is missing. You will never experience the fullness of the Christian life until you cry out to Father in an honest way and request that this visitor become a resident for the rest of your life.
Open the door
And let the Spirit in.
Let His indwelling love
Help you to start again.
Feel His gentle touch
Placed upon your heart.
Let the Spirit guide you
And become your only chart.
Hear His silent whisper
Deep into the night.
Ask for the Holy Spirit
To set your world right.
