All that night the Lord drove the sea back. Ex. 14:21
Even though I grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis my parents were from Fargo N.D. It was common practice for our family of seven to trek back to Fargo for visits. Come rain or shine nothing would stop us.
On one frigid wintry night we were four hours from home and my father stopped for gas. The temperature had fallen to thirty below. When my father crawled back behind the wheel the drivers door would not close. The lock was frozen and we were apparently stranded. My father took off his belt and wrapped it around the arm rest and for four hours he had to hold the door closed as he drove.
Deep into the night as the frigid cold pushed to get in we were protected by my fathers strong loving arms. As my eight year old heart nodded off to sleep I knew I was safe.
We are more than safe in a Father's arms who never sleeps, never tires, never gets weary. He goes day and night on our behalf. His omniscience is our rock to call upon when the cold winds blow. His omnipresence allows us to feel the warmth in our cold heart. His strength over turns even our largest obstacles and gives us the power to persevere. Plain and simple He is the promised peace that never runs dry.
The season of your life
Might be of darkness.
The condition of your heart
Could be starkness.
But frigid times will never last
When we reach for the light.
So come to God
With a world of faith
And he will give you sight.
