unto us was the gospel preached Heb. 4:2
In the old testamate three different Hebrew words were used to describe a hammer. The Halmuth was used to drive the tent begs deep into the hard dry ground and was known to be a heavy mallet. A tool used by the gold beater was know as the Patish. And the pointed hammer used by the general workman was called the Maggabah.
When presenting the gospel what type of hammer are you? Are you a Halmuth? Do you use abrasive strategies and drive the gospel hard against the unbelievers resistant soul? Are you diligent like the gold beater? Or are you like a light to the common man pointing others to the cross
Let us be bold in our example but gentle with our message. Let us be strict in our purpose and passionate with our words. This gospel that we know so well should be proclaimed every where with great urgency, boldness and a hope for the future.
Father,
May I be bold in my witness
But gentle in my delivery.
May I stand amongst the loss
And always speak of Calvary.
May I never be a hammer
pounding at the gate
But always come with love and hope
So people can relate.
