The Beauty In The Seed

I planted the seed but Apollos watered it and God made it grow.1 Cor. 3:6

When I was twelve years old I decided I decided I needed to make some money so I sent a way for a mail order box of seeds. I talked my dad into up fronting me the money and reassured him I would double the money. I never sold one packet of seeds and my dad was stuck with the loss.

What I lacked was vision and confidence. I failed to vision how beautiful those seeds stuffed in a packet would look in the garden. I also failed to realize that the people buying the seeds would be extremely happy.

I lacked confidence in myself that I could go up to someone and confidence them that they needed what I had. My fear kept me home on the couch dead in my tracts. If I would have seen a flourishing garden then all of the sales would have fallen into place.

Perhaps it is our lack of vision that stops us Christians from planting seeds for the Kingdom. For who would see a Franklin Graham in a renegade teenager. Who would see a Saul in a Paul. And who could see a rich man being stripped to nothing and find the patience of Job.

The bible makes reference to sowing seeds as spreading God's word. God showed me how simple this can be just today. With summer coming and my teens at home I decided to move from an outside office to working at home. As I was gathering my things and taking trips to my car I had left my bible and my concordance on my desk. One of my co-workers passed by and i saw him linger distinctly at my desk. Then he took a moment to ask me where I went to church.

Praise God the door was open. I had the confidence to speak up for Christ and I gave him the name of my church and directed him to our website. As I walked I had the vision of seeing him on Sunday.

Can this be done without having a passion for Christ? I think not. Can this happen without wearing the miracle of redemption on our sleeve? I dare say no. Our love for Christ compels us into service and in it's simplest form that is all it takes.

Father,

I want to know You deep in my heart
So others will to.
I want to sow the seeds of redemption
In everything that I do.

This world needs a Savior
And His name is Jesus Christ.
Like a fool I've lived without Him.
But now I have made Him my life.
