The Beauty Of The Art

Thy will be done. Matthew 6:10

The art of pottery is listed as one of the most ancient of crafts. Pottery dates back to as late as 5,000 B.C. There are numerous illusions as to the potter in the Bible. The illustration of the wicked is used to show the brittleness of pottery and how God has the power over the wicked. Psalm 2:19

For a good potter to create a beautiful vase he must know his clay well. This illustration shows how well God knows humanity. God's power is likened to how a potter has the power to create or destroy.

I have never had the occasion to ever do any pottery but there are elements that we can draw upon in relationship to our Father being the potter. It is His desire that we become completely dependent and fully trust when He has us upon His wheel. Any shaping that He is attempting to do or any flaw that He needs to root out must happen before we can become the prize piece in the art gallery.

At the critical point in our shaping we must at once say " I surrender." The beauty of the art hinges on our response. Remember that all anxious striving on our part is not compatible to trusting. As you lay upon the potters wheel look up and say, " Thy will be done" and say it from your heart to His.

Father,

All trust is placed in You
As I lay upon the wheel.
I will close my eyes and I will trust.
I will not squeal.

I am anxious my sweet Father
To see what You've created.
My beauty rests in Your hands
And I know I'll be elated.
