Oh My God

I was up at my office last night opened my e-mail and I received a message that one of our largest lenders was closing up shop. I shared the information with the owner and he was absolutely shocked.

His exact words were " Oh My God." He was visibly shaken from one cheek bone to the other. There is such uncertainty in the air with the economy and the housing market that you would have to be a spiritual giant for it not to concern you.

So my mind has to ask, " Where does your heart go when earth shattering news hits?" Does " Oh my God" come tumbling out in a battered and shattered way? Or does it literally roll off your tongue with, " Oh MY God?"

Do you catch the difference? One is a " I can't believe this is happening to me. What am I going to do?" And the other is a reverential awe that God is in control and God is able. One falls flat on their face and rolls into a ball like a little child and the other declares with complete confidence, " I know that thou art God."

One feels like they are standing in quick sand and going under and the other says, " My ancestry is Abraham, my friend is Joseph and I stand with Paul. " Let me simple say we are all an eyelash away from disaster. We are all one screeching halt away from a major accident. We all could be diagnosed with a death shattering disease tomorrow for tragedy knows not age or gender.

But we can stand without fear by simple believing in God's sovereign holiness. This silent testimony rejects demoralization, defeats uncertainty and lives with a heart beat that says, " Oh MY God is able.

Father,

I know with all certainty
That You are able.
I stand upon the rock.
I know this is stable.

Inspite of all uncertainty
My heart will still choose to sing.
And I will rest in complete confidence
From all the peace that You will bring.
