Let's Promise

him faithful who had promised Heb. 11:11

In ancient times it was customed for the betrothed to have attained a dowry. It contained all the valuable items to be passed on at the wedding day. It held treasures stored up for a future anticipation of the joyous celebration. It came with a promise, a desire and a commitment.

Is it time to make another promise? How about if we promise to give our hearts full force for the Lord? Let's dedicate a desire and a hunger to do God's holy work. Can we re-commit to learn the word by heart? Can we sacrifice our time and give up our pleasures to fellowship with Father.

A full dowry indeed would be delivered to the foot of the cross if we made these choices. True treasures of understanding and a closeness that would be equal to the love from a mother would be known to all who commit.

If you truly open your mind to hear God's voice you would understand we serve a God that never fails. You would not procrastinate one more minute in such a promise. You would earnestly proceed to present to the Prince of this world your everything.

Father,

I have made promises before
And failed miserable.
But now with great intent
I can clearly see.

My eyes are set before me
With a promise everyday.
To reach beyond the mountains
And follow what You have to say.
