He who refreshes others will he himself be refreshed Proverbs 11:25
I have a friend that was being pulled in two different directions. Her oldest son was due to graduate and you know what that means. Tuxedos, limousines, dinners and dance all led up to a crescendo of pictures with the parents.
This tradition is a time to rejoice in the revelry of the moment. Proud parents primping and preparing their teens for the multitude of pictures. A time for the parents to reminisce, laugh and catch the joy of years gone by.
But my friend had to walk away from that crowning moment in her sons life. She had to sacrifice her fleshly desire to linger and celebrate. She had to miss the laughter of this moment. This single mom torn in two different directions also heard another voice.
her mother needed a ride to the hospital to be with her father that was recovering from open heart surgery. So she had to leave the revelry and the girl with the giving heart had to go. Do you recognize a heart such as this? God does.
Later on we will receive our just reward. Later on the jewel from the giving heart will illuminate the path for another. Even when others are silent and don't seem to appreciate it we must keep on. God's foot prints of servant hood left a mark in the sand for us to follow.
These tired and battered people that God leads us to are refreshed with our giving heart. Hurting souls are awakened when our giving is draped with such love. Restoring a faith that was wounded is the first steps towards loving Father. All of the incredible dynamics are in motion when we rest in the arms of sacrificial giving. Don't quit.
You earned a crown lat night.
Even if no one spoke.
You sacrificed your wants
And carried someone elses yoke.
Although it wasn't easy
Or even what you expected,
You sent a message that God is love
And that won't be rejected.
