Tension Chokes Out God's Voice

Let the people renew their strenght Isaiah 41:1

Growing up on one of the largest lakes in Minnesota I spent my summer hours skiing. I would often find my friends early and attack the waves. The goal was to be an accomplished trick skier and be good enough to be chosen to ski in the major summer event- the Aquatential Festival.

One thing that was different about myself and my friends was as they were always anxious and eager to get out on the water I would linger. I would always wait for the calm days and the soft nights. For it was in these times that I could measure my progress and calculate my accomplishments.

Now as I consider my daily walk with Christ I look for the same peaceful waters. God leadeth me to still waters to calm the storms in my life. I wait for God to speak as my heart rests in Him. So often in our rushing we miss His leading. Tensions of the day lead us away from the cross. Tension often chokes out God's voice.

Like a flower reaching for the sun on a spring day all things need to be restored. For who hasn't had a dried up, crumpled up spirit? Who hasn't drawn a breath and found the difficulty in breathing slowly? Who hasn't heard the rush of traffic and failed to hear the whipping of a weeping willow.

Beside still waters, at the base of a mountain and in the stillness of the night renew your strength. A rested soul is a soul that shakes hands with adversity and still presents Christ to the world.

Father,

My soul cries out for rest
As I am weary.
My walk is but a crawl
And it is dreary.

Renew my strength my King.
Prepare my heart once more.
The joy shall come in the morning
As I go walking out the door.
