My beloved is mine and mine is his. Song of Solomon 2:16
If I was to ask my teenagers their definition of success I am sure it would have to do with the amount of money that you make. If I go to a hard charging executive it would probably have to do with the next sales contest, convention or promotion.
Seldom do we look at having a successful marriage as being a picture of success. But look at the failure rate today and the question is answered.
One of my favorite books is " Love In The Nineties." It is a book that depicts in award winning picturesa relationship that lasted over sixty years. Love letters that shine like road map were included to show the depth of their love. I can't get through the book without crying, hoping and believing that someday I will have a love such as this.
The message needs to be sent and the picture has to change for the next generation that marriage, family and our children is really the most important things in life. This is how we are going to change the world. This is the imprint that we can leave for them to follow.
To anyone else he'd be less than a prince.
To someone else she'd be the same.
But somewhere in the darkness
Love still calls out there name.
Been sixty years they've been together.
A million smiles have come and gone.
But they still touch in the middle of the night.
They still have it going on.
Now theres a picture of success.
Of working hard and getting less.
As the world chases silver
To be all that they can be,
I'll take their success story for me.
To some he'd be called kind of gruff.
To others she would be too.
But they still meet in the middle of the night
Wiith a gentle touch for two.
Ther're the greatest love song never sung.
The perfect srory never told.
And they still have it going on
Even thought they are way past old.
And late at night he worries.
he bows his head and prays.
He whispers, "Lord, protect her.
Because I am facing my last days."
She lays so quiet in the darkness.
As he hears her draw her breath.
He rests his head on the pillow.
And sees the secret side of death.
Now theres a picture of success.
Of working hard and getting less.
As the world chases silver
To be all that it can be.
I'll take their success story for me.
