Are You To Weak To Walk?

He gathered the lamb in his arms and carries them close to His heart. Isaiah 40:11

When my son was very young he came up with a monster cold and was having trouble breathing. Hearing him struggling and stirring at 3:00A.M. I got up to comfort him. I picked him up and went down stairs and held him close. His little body was heaving from frustration. Crocodile tears slid down his face as he looked into my eyes deep into the night.

I sat upright and rubbed his back. And a deep measure of tender love came forth as I held him close. I began to sing to him and could feel his body cave into mine. No longer afraid. No longer alone. He just wanted to be held.

We celebrate the soothing touch of another Father. This Good Shepherd cradles us just as close. He longs to be with us in a powerful sense of intimacy. The strength of His arms carries us to the other side of raging rivers inside of us. He protects us with the fierceness of a mother defending her child.

Only our Father understands the heart of the depressed, the ache of the despondent, the helplessness of the lonely. We may lay deathly ill with attendants all around us but we shall never lay in that bed alone.

His love is not a mechanical love out of obligation but a love that catches every tear. Behold this love, treasure the intensity,revere being close to His heart. Rejoice in a love that gives us strength to walk when we are too weak. This love, does it move you to tears?

I just want to be near Him.
Oh a love such as this.
It was bought by His love
And sealed with a kiss.

Forever He holds me
In His loving arms.
There to protect me
And shield me from harm.
