When You Possess

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, " If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. John 7:37

I have a confession. For the first thirty years of my Christian life I professed Christ but I did not possess Christ. He was on my tongue but not centered in my heart.

There is a big difference here. When we profess we go to church to see our friends. When we possess we go to church to meet Jesus. When we profess we look through our own eyes. When we possess we operate under Christ's guiding hand. When we profess we call Jesus our friend. But Oh Christian when He possesses us He becomes our lover and our crown of glory.

When you possess Him you hear His wailing voice like a child crying for her mother. It is then that you understand that without the mother there would be no child. When He possesses we never complain for we accept His purpose is for us to be moved by His hand. It is then that we understand that our spiritual riches lie in Him and without Him there is no love story.

My friend, my friend
Don't be a fool.
Don't just seek Jesus
Because it is cool.

Want Him, need Him
Deep in your heart.
Make a proclamation
That you will never part.

The cries of His heart
Live deep within.
He is the reason
We are cleansed of our sin.

How deep was His love?
This love heaven sent.
He spilled His blood
And that payed the rent.

Profess Him, possess Him
From your head to your toes.
Love Him so deeply
That you won't let Him go.
