He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed Prov 11:25
The other day the young man that lives with us was up and waiting for his ride to school. I headed out the door and on the way to my office I turned back. Something told me Wes was stranded. Wes was surprised to see me yet thankful I thought of him and came back to help.
One of my favorite songs that I sing all the time is Feed My Sheep by Dallas Holm. It is an oldy but goodie. Simple yet profound:
Feed my sheep.
Feed my sheep.
If you really love me just feed my sheep.
Words come so easy but their harder to keep.
If you really love me just feed my sheep.
Isn't that so true? It is easy to say we are going to do something but real love does something. He who gives reaps. As a child we hoard our toys until we see the joy in someones eyes because we shared. When we super soak others with laughter we can't help but laugh.
It is in the act of giving that our soul becomes alive with passion. Dive into truth to teach another and you will learn also. Give from your food pantry and you feed someones soul. Help a sinner embrace the cross and you will embrace a saint. Give God and you will reap heaven.
We are on a wonderful mission.
Our Father called it the great commission.
He simply said "Feed my sheep."
With clear intent
And nothing to reap.
Just search the land
Until you find,
The empty heart
That could be mine.
The harvest is plenty
And the workers are few.
You know my child
There is much to do.
Take my words from sea to sea.
And be the hands and feet for me.
There will be days
When you'll want to quit.
Drop down and pray
Then rest a bit.
All I ask
Is you always proclaim
My death on the cross
And my Holy name.
