Deaths Beautiful Aroma

I found the one my heart loves, I held him and would not let him go. Song of Solomon 3:4

When we built our house we had some serious clearing to do. By last count I had cut down 100 trees. We rented a chipper and turned the brush into wood chips for a walking path through the woods.

When the chipper went back I was reduced down to burning the brush. On one occasion my wife got too close to the fifteen foot flames and singed her hair and her eyebrows. I can still smell the stench of her burning hair.

Looking through human eyes death brings a grotesque aroma. But looking through spiritual eyes death brings a sweet smell to Father. It is in our spiritual death that we surrender. Our will is laid on the alter for sacrifice. We are cleansed by His blood and our joy and comfort is found in Him and Him alone.

Our wandering heart is now brought home. And it is our desire to know Him with our whole heart. Our soul yearns for Him. Spiritual death becomes the beginning of life. Praise dances from our lips because we are genuinely elated to die to Christ. The thief on the cross has found his way home. The stench is gone forever more.

His grace we have received.
A grace like no other.
His love cannot compare
Even from a mother.

My Lord how much I love You.
My heart can't help but sing.
My Jesus is my intimate friend
And my redeeming King.
