Take The Initiative

And when the morning arose Gen 19:15

I am trying to teach my boys to take the initiative. I shouldn't have to tell them at their ages to pick up their residue of pop cans, empty bags of chips or who knows what else they leave behind in their wake. I tell them that when those things grow legs and walk off the counter to the garbage can to be sure and call me first because I want to see it with my own eyes.

Fellow Christians we have to take the initiative also. Proactive Christianity is what it is going to take to change this world. Ideas planted by the Savior to accomplish greatness for the Kingdom will only happen when we rise up from the couch and believe God has called us.

What if Billy Graham never had crusades. What if Oswald Chambers never picked up a pen. And ten years ago who ever heard of a Max Lacado? What if God wants to use you as He has used men such as this? Is it too far reaching for you to believe in a God that can raise you up that high or that close to Christ? I am not talking about being popular. I am talking about strapping on some spiritual confidence and then just letting God take over.

Early risers and late finishers are made that way for a reason. They that have an abundance of energy do the Lord"s work( Gen. 22:3). They fight the Lord's battles. ( Josh. 8:10) Correct an evil ( Dan. 6:19) Pray, ( Mark 1:35) and preach ( Acts 5:21)

Do I sound like a man that did not use his gift for 10 years? Do I sound like a man with regrets that kicked his spiritual gift to the side of the road? There are still too many that don't know Christ. There are still too many that need to know truth. They are hungry for the gospel and need to see the light of the world.

Father,
I sought so many things
And none of them was You.
I chased the things of this world
But none of it was truth.

I stand now right before You
Confessing my wayward ways.
Empty my heart upon the throne
And turn it into a blaze.

Soak me in Your presence
And reveal to this simple man.
I am ready to obey
And move at Your command.
