hath been secretly enticed Job 31:27
While preparing for church I glanced out the window and felt the mixed message of another Minnesota snow storm. I saw the beauty in the snow whispering in the wind. The howl from outside was almost melodic. The ice sent an electrifying message as it shimmered in the sun shine.
But there is a heaviness to the storm. These times also mean the trees are burdened by the weight of the ice fastened like glue to their branches. All activity comes to a crawl with the realization that caution is our battle cry and danger lurks at every corner.
Sin carries this same dusty message. Often it looks so good in the beginning and comes to destroy like the ravages of a winter storm. The ingredients of fun and excitement entices our hearts into actions that are far from Biblical. Enraptured by the beauty of the dance we enter in.
Moment by moment we feel the weight of the branch and the entanglement of our decisions. The quagmire captures our soul and owns us like quicksand. Thoughts and behavior contrary to the glory of God withhold us from God's love.
Thankfully we serve a God of regeneration. He melts our heart with His inferno of love. He untangles us from our entrapment. He lightens our burdens and strengthens our roots deep into the very heart of our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ.
My God and my Savior
You are my all.
You are always available
To answer my call.
My foolish intentions
My restless ways
Oh what I deserve
Is to suffer for days.
But Lord your love
Forgets and forgives.
You call me home
To just have me live.
I am caught in the presence
Of who you are.
My shining prince
And my glowing star.
