I go to prepare a place for you. 1st. Peter 11
Years ago I worked for an insurance company. It was a common occurrence to hold a retreat up north to get away and plan the new year. One particular year a friend that had his cabin near by invited me up a day early. Since I had clients all over the state I thought I would work my way up. Tucked in my pocket was his hand drawn map.
As I weaved my way deep into the woods darkness had already arrived. I stopped at what appeared to be the right cabin. The lights were on. The door was open but I just wasn't sure as there was no note.
So I headed back to town and ended up at a hotel with a room 30 feet off the main freeway. With the midnight truckers roaring by and a yellow vacant sign from the hotel that wouldn't stop blinking I found it impossible to sleep.
The next day as I dragged myself into the meeting I found my friend had gone into town the night before and forgot to leave a note and invite me in.
Jesus didn't leave a note when He went ahead to prepare a place for us. He left us His words. They are written in red to remind us of His shed blood. His words are filled with hope and they are words we can count on no matter what our trial are. They are a statement, a guarantee and a promise from the risen Savior. They are spoken by a man that never sinned, never deceived and never lied. They are words given as a treasure by the gentle lamb of God.
How can we trust the words You spoke
And simply just obey?
Why should we carry them next to our heart
And believe in the things You did say?
Because the matchless, Holy Son of God
Could not tell a lie.
And we can rest right by Your side
Until the day we die.
