Are You Willing To Be Led

led by the spirit Luke 4:1

I was at a hockey tournament all weekend and since my son is new to this team there are many new faces. I spent the weekend trying to match the parents with their sons. I also spent the weekend with my spiritual antennae up.

I asked myself two specific questions: Are you the one God wants me to meet? And is this the place God wants me to be. All weekend I felt His presence. Every time I would go to the rink I had to pass by a Catholic bookstore. I am completely open to what God wants me to do so I thought maybe there is something He wants me to see in that store. It could be a book He wants me to pick up. It could be some type of teaching material. I dropped my son off and off I went to the store. But the funny thing is it was almost empty. They didn't have any books or even tapes for that matter.

Then I just decided that God had somebody He wanted me to meet. So I took the copy of the book I was reading and headed down to the pool. I was under siege with kids doing their best cannon ball contest. It became apparent in a rather quick fashion that wasn't where God wanted me.

So off I went to breakfast with book in hand. I laid the copy of the book "God Chasers" right in front of me and then I watched peoples reactions. Some glanced at the book and then quickly turned their head. A friend, that knows I am a Christian, just kind of smirked. Then one couple stopped and took a good hard look at the book. Now we were getting somewhere. Even though we had never talked about Christ there was an instant connection.

All of these events leads me to a question. Are you willing, wanting and waiting to be led? Are you completely open to let God take your agenda and lead you to a place that He might want you to be? Are you wanting that type of instantaneous God occasion in your life. Can the spirit get through to lead you?

It could be that somebody is hurting and you are the very one that God has designed to be dropped into their lives. Or it could be that someone is struggling and needs to hear words of encouragement. We never will know until we are willing to go. And the key is having the spiritual awareness to ask God simple questions from your heart to His.

Father,
My heart is here and I'm waiting
For You to send me out.
I will simply follow
Even when I don't know
What it's about.

Oh what a glorious journey
To follow where You lead.
To walk this earth
Holding Your hand
And gently plant a seed.
