let thine ear now be attentive Neh 1:6
After spending the last six months of my life in court rooms over a custody battle I have found there is a moment in court procedure that demands our undivided attention. It is that moment when the judge walks in and the words " All Rise" are spoken by the deputy.
At that very moment silence fills the room. All cell phones are turned off. All books are put away. All newspapers are folded up and the judge demands our utmost attention.
As Christians we should be on a daily search for moments like this. Within these moments is when God becomes our all and nothing else seems to matter. But finding these moments is the challenge of the day.
While brushing my teeth for the 20,000 time in my life there is a moment. When I am at my desk and I have accomplished another task I can take a quiet pause. My undivided attention with a committed heart and a yielding will can be dedicated throughout the day more than I might think.
Look for those precious moments.Give God the all deserving honor. Dwell in the most high with God with your undivided attention. Do this often and it will be the beginning of a mindful expectant servant. God then will become your audience as you look for ways to imitate, follow and please Him.
Father,
My undivided attention
Will always focus on You.
For You are the author
of everything I do.
Come now Lord upon me
And capture all my ways.
Indwell my King within me
All my living days.
