and I shall teach thee wisdom Job 33:33
If there was such a thing as an Aladdin's lamp what do you think most people would wish for? Certainly, any one caught up in the ways of the world would ask for exquisite material possessions. Or might I dare say unlimited wealth.
As Christians one of the most prized possessions is wisdom. It is described as knowledge with understanding. It is given by Christ as a gift by the Holy Spirit. We are to pray for wisdom as a means of instruction.
The reason we are instructed to desire it is it gives us happiness, keeps us from evil and produces good fruit. It is known to be better than rubies, above gold in value and better than weapons.
For some, this is a tough pill to swallow. The foolish don't understand that wisdom is greater than worldly possessions. But the lyrics to a popular song say it best " I can see clearly now..."
What would you ask God for
If you saw Him today?
Would you seek the ultimate in power
To refute what others might say?
Would you ask Him for great wealth
To bless others you meet?
Would you seek out the homeless
And put shoes on their feet?
Or maybe you would want talents
To draw others your way.
To enter into their world
To tell them what Jesus had to say.
What would you ask God for?
I'm curious to know.
Would they be trinkets just for you?
Or would you help the Kingdom grow?
