You never fail to stand me tall in Your presence so I can look You in the eye. Psalm 41:12
When I was working my way through school I was a prep cook at a local restaurant. This restaurant was well known for their bakery goods. People would come for miles and pay large prices for their unmistakable delicacies.
One day the General Manager walked into the kitchen looked around and told me to follow him. The delivery man was sick so the manager threw me the keys and told me to deliver the pastry goods to the other site. Not thinking, I loaded the big tall bins into the truck and took off.
With every stop I could hear a loud bash in the back of the truck. But, like a trooper, I continued on my way. Once at the other site, I was horrified when I threw open the door. All the bakery goods were smashed and bashed together. All that was salvageable was an apple pie.
As it turned out no one ever told me there was a bar that needed to be put in place to secure the metal bakery bins in place.
I have never felt chastisement like that day. Failure was written all over my face and left a deep wound.
When we fail in God's eyes He does not wield His power over us. In His all forgiving ever forgetting ways He lifts us up to Him. He calls us close, gains our attention and sends a clear message that we are still worthy of His love, care and concern.
Here is a God that could crush us in our failures but instead picks us up. This love, this gentle stark naked love, is a blessing to be cherished. Oh Father, hallowed it be thy name.
Father,
my cup has over flowed
from my many blessings from You.
You never cease to amaze me
in all the things that You do.
So willing to let me stand tall
And let me look in Your eyes.
So ready to drop what You're doing
And hear my heart felt cry.
You have forgotten all my transgressions.
I am forgiven for all of my wrongs.
My heart can not help but praise You.
And write You song after song.
I will exalt and rejoice in Your steadfast love.
I will claim it every day.
For You my Lord
have erased my sins.
As You simply wash them away.
