keep thee from the hour of temptation Rev. 3:10
Lady Macbeth was one of Shakespeare's most interesting characters. Once she heard that her husband was to be king she convinced her husband to kill the existing king and make way for her residence in the palace. When the blood shed was over Macbeth was quilt ridden.
Lady Macbeth called her husband weak and helped her husband cover up the murder. Yet, the weight of her actions pushed her to instability and insanity. " Will these hands ne're be clean" were words that depicted her quilt. This quilt eventually led her to suicide.
When we fail to make the kingdom choice our witness becomes useless and this becomes another tool the enemy uses to render us ineffective. The inner whisper of the Holy Spirit was sent to be our guide and lead us through to the other side of temptation. He becomes our moral compass. When faced with temptation always choose the cross.
We fight temptation by asking for deliverance, by taking heed to the warnings against temptation and by praying against temptation. The driving force of temptation is our lusts and our desire for riches.
Each of these elements at one time or another have captured me over and driven me away from God. But now, much wiser, sharper and keener, I come before the cross ready for battle.
I will listen to the Spirit
when You try to talk to me.
I will walk next to Jesus
and do it willingly.
When faced with life's temptations
I will turn to the cross.
Driven to the word each day
I will let my Lord be boss.
