Their rock is not our Rock Deut. 32:31
Every summer I marvel at the swarm of butterflies that rest at the side of the road on a hot day. It is the coolness of the concrete that they seek as the asphalt absorbs the heat They have discovered the wisdom of taking shelter in the coolness of the concrete.
As I think of ways to describe our shelter it is wrapped around two words. We have THE ROCK when things are so hot we can barely stand the compression of life.
When we are afraid THE ROCK is available for us to cling to shelter us from the high winds and protect us from danger. When we need comfort we can rest assured THE ROCK is stable and an immovable object to stand on. When we are lonely, THE ROCK lifts our heart towards Heaven as we reach for high peaks. And when we are tired we can find peace in the shadows of THE Rock until our strength comes in the morning.
No matter what the situation
we simply have an obligation
to proclaim the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
And far beyond all understanding
we have the safety of our landing.
A stone that will not crumble
for all our life.
My rock and my salvation,
the author of creation.
A confident translation
to erase all strife.

Stand firm, never take your feet off the Rock and your faith will never wobble or falter.
Take comfort by doing so, you will be able to safely receive all God's blessing for he will know your true intent in all things.
Stand tall, stand proud, stand strong, stand free.
Stand safe and know that you are all he intended you to be.
Blessed!
