Keep My Ear Tuned

and findeth them sleeping Mark 14:37

Years ago a friend of mine called me to help her move her things from Florida to Minnesota. Her fiance was unable to help as he had started a new job in California and couldn't take the time off.

So I flew down to Florida and climbed in her Tracker with the intent to drive straight thru. By the time we hit the Minnesota border we were exhausted. We agreed to just find a truck stop and catch a couple of hours before we finished the trip.

We were fortunate to find a beautiful rest stop that was lined by the Mississippi River. As soon as our heads hit the green green grass of home we were out. We slept longer than we said we would and woke up completely refreshed.

Deep slumber rests our soul. But it can also cause us to drop our guard. Satan loves to come at us in subtle ways.

When the rough waters and the raging seas come at us we are on our toes. When the tough times come knocking at our door we stand alert. Jesus tells us to wake up, be alert and pray. We must pay attention to those times when all is going well for Satan lurks right around the corner. We must remember that temptation comes wrapped in a candy coated cover ready to deceive us.

People often deny Christ in the richness of the valley then the tough terrain of the mountain. In the rough ride we ask for God's help. In the easy road our praise disappears. Yet, when we praise Him in the storms then we are challenged to cling to Him.

Father,
keep my mind sharp.
Keep my ear tunes.

Let me never forget Your voice,
Ne'er never forget Your wounds.

Bring the rough road.
Send Your perfect correction
So I might always choose
to follow Your direction.
