Keep Giving

But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.2 Thes. 3:13

I am the first to tell you I am not the most gifted guy mechanically. When my family gathers it is inevitable that a story or two will slip out about how I have screwed things up when it was my intent to fix them. In my family we call that " I pulled a Bradley". It doesn't help that my three brothers are mechanics and carpenters.

Far above what we might be able to fix or make is our ability to give. When we offer our resources and abilities to a dark empty world then the love of Christ shows up. Our giving should be without show. It is to be done according to our ability. We should give willingly, liberally and cheerfully.

It could be our time to a single mom that needs help moving. It could be to the elderly that needs a ride. Years ago my church requested someone to go visit the elderly. So every Wednesday I would go visit. They assigned me to an elderly woman to pray with and talk to. It was near Valentines day and they wanted me to help her send out cards. So with each of her friends she would describe them to me and I would write a heart felt response. After the third card she started crying and said they all sounded so wonderful.

Touching a person's life and doing it in the name of Christ is not hard. What it does is glorify God by exalting His name and honoring His presence. If the world has turned your heart cold, keep giving. If expectations have not been met don't quit. God in His perfect timing will show up and make things right just for you. But in the mean time keep at it and give.

Keep Giving

It is only through the givers heart
we can hear the angels sing.
It is only through the givers heart
We can see what God will bring.

It is only through the loving touch
To a hurting friend
That they will see God smile at them
and know that to the end
He'll keep giving.

So when your heart is weary
And you say there is nothing more
It is only in His infinite love
God comes walking through the door.
KEEP GIVING.
