Are You Failing The Test?

and shalt not turn away from Jer. 3:19

Years ago I had the pleasure of visiting my sister and her husband when they lived in Redondo Beach. One of the excursions they planned was a trip to the ocean for sailing. We spent a good bit of time cruising in the harbor checking out celebrities houses from the beach front.

As night time came upon us we had drifted out into the deeper waters beyond the harbor. The wind had died to a stand still and we were adrift. When the back up motor failed to start we were lost at sea.

I glanced at my sister and panic was written all over her face. My brother-in-law, Bruce, was a mechanic for the airlines so I was not worried. When he could not get the engine to perform I started to be concerned.

I started to sing. Every praise song I could possible remember came tumbling from my heart to my lips. As this sound echoed over the waves it was my way to declare that I would not be afraid. Our rescue came from others that heard the songs dancing in the darkness and came to give us a tow.

When the tough times come are you failing the test? What direction do your feet turn? When the hard winds blow which way do you go? Testing is what reveals what a person is made of on the inside. It is brought about when God places difficult demands on us. These hardships and severe trials can make our faith either weak or strong depending on which way you turn your feet.

God allows these times to test our obedience, learn God's will and destroy idolatry's. At times our faith itself will be tested and other times our abilities are challenged. Let us not be showing a wobbling, shaky faith when tested. Let us always stand on the rock and proclaim that nothing can knock us away.

During your toughest times look to Heaven. Turn to Christ when love walks away. Run to Christ when accidents turn your world upside down. Stand on the rock for the rest of your days. God will turn your tears to laughter and your laughter to an eternal smile that won't disappear.

Are you failing the test
when the tough times come?
Deep down in your heart
do you want to run?

Is your faith turning cold
like a winter shower?
Have you forgotten with Christ
that you have the power?

Stand strong, look up
Then run to Christ.
For He is your rock
for the rest of your life.
