The Sixth Sense

If any man shall do His will. John 7:17

On of the things I like about being a Christian is the power that we have. It puts us in a position to operate with a sixth sense. In addition to the typical senses we are equipped to handle any situation and any adversity.

We can handle these obstacles because of what we receive when we turn our back on the old self. When we stop, drop and listen to the Holy Spirit we stand far above any situation. I love the moments when I surrender. When I stop my world. Then life becomes a choice to drop what I was doing and listen to what the Holy Spirit is trying to take me to.


Once we choose to follow at that very moment we engage that sixth sense. We actually then have the opportunity to participate in the very activities of Heaven. It is then that we can stand next to the trinity. It is at that time that God is moving, God is calling us to be in union with Himself.

I remember a story that Chuck Swindol tells about his daughter. He was home with his wife and he felt led to stop what he was doing and pray. His teenage daughter was away from the house and something led him to pray for her. The following day he found out that at the very moment he was praying she was protected from danger.

When I set my self will aside I see a picture of the three of us kneeling together embracing the cross. Imagine being so close to Christ and the Holy Spirit at the same time with a dedicated gaze that stares, glares and declares the cross.

So that sixth sense then is a chance for God to consume us. The trick is to let the Holy Spirit lead. To have an ear so tuned that even the slightest whisper makes sense to you. Then we must learn to be a magnet and follow every step He wishes us to take.

Always listen
and let the Spirit have His way.
Stop ,then move,
do what He has to say.

An internal explosion
will exist in you.
If only you do
what God asks you to.

Big things can happen
when I surrender
and listen.
And you will never question
what you might have been missing.
