Teach me good discernment and knowledge for I believe in thy commandments Psalm 119:66
I have always been one that has been filled with a lot of determination. . . When they handed me the football it took more than one to bring me down. When I played king of the mountain with my older brother and his friends I would cling to their leg and not give up.
When I became a manager I taught my agents the dirty D'S. Determination, dedication, drive and discipline. Because of my makeup most of the lessons I have learned in life have been the hard way. It used to be that you could preach to me all you want but if I was not willing to listen or if I thought I was right you might as well be standing on a far off mountain.
But I am here to tell you that a stubborn ,I am right attitude is no way to operate with God. I have now figured out there is a better way to learn life's lessons and that is to be led by the Spirit.
Used to be when God was trying to get my attention if I didn't want to hear it I would drown Him out with activity. Business drowns out the Holy Spirit in a heart beat.
Now as my heart operates in complete surrender I not only listen but I look for God to lead me. Sounds pretty simple doesn't it? But after two failed marriages, bankruptcy and troubled children later I surrender.I tried life my way and it didn't work.
It really goes back to if I knew then what I know now. God's wisdom was always there. It comes from fear of the Lord. Putting on the coat of righteousness and by listening to the Holy Spirit. It will give us happiness and keep us from evil. It is greater than gold and it is all I need.
My if only's in life are many.
My rebellion was so wrong.
So now I just follow Jesus.
He has become my sweet song.
My self will is now set aside
as now I'm completely immersed
I no longer have to hunger
and I no longer have to thirst.
