Seeking Still Waters

He leads me besides still waters Psalm 23:2

When I was a child I spent many hours seeking rough waters. You see it was a thrill and a challenge to chase the large cruiser waves with my fishing boat. What a rush to dip the bow deep into the center of the wave and catch the rushing water against my face. Then their was the thrill of taking my boat right to the very edge of flipping it over and then at the very last second stirring out of the wave.

Now that I am older I seek the serene quiet of the dark blue cove. I am content now to rest with a pole in the water and a prayer in my pocket.

Those still waters, those precious, quiet times are critical. They restore our hearts, quell the storms of life and reshape our focus.

Peace reigns as I become connected to Christ and can hear Him with each breath I take and the beating of my heart.

Those quiet, still waters bring a thrill in a different way. It is in the quiet, motionless day that I can see His hand before me and sense His presence. It is in these times that my soul is quieted as I wait upon the Lord. This is what my life has become and this is what I rejoice in. I am thrilled by this intimacy and how real God is to me.

I see rainbows and get excited because I know who painted them. God and I take long journeys together and I know I will never be the same. He has touched me like no other and I need nothing, want nothing and hope for everything in Christ.

God left His sandals by me
when I went down to the beach.
I could feel His presence near me
and I took all that He would teach.

I sought the wisdom in His word
as I laid upon the sand.
I could hear His gentle whisper
and feel the softness of His hand.

The breeze was blowing lightly
as I got down low to pray.
Completely tucked in solitude
on this special day.
