A conscience void of offence towards God, and towards men. Acts 24:16
God's commands are given to the life of His Son in us, the moment we obey they become divinely easy. Conscious is the eye of the soul that looks out either towards God or that which is tempting us. If I am in the habit of steadily facing myself with God, my conscious will always introduce perfect law and indicate what I should do. Is my ear so keen to hear the tiniest whisper of the Spirit? He does not come with a voice like thunder; His voice is so gentle that it is easy to ignore it. The one thing that keeps the conscience sensitive to Him is the continual habit of being open to God on the inside. Oswald Chambers.
In my past I have to admit I did not contemplate the grievous offences of my ways. I was an expert of denying the Spirit to talk to me from within. I denied Christ access to my soul, my heart.
I was a thrill seeker. I chased the fun and the excitement of sin. If I wanted to do something I did not take it to Christ in quiet contemplation. I just did it. Call it rebellion and paint it an ugly color in my heart. What I thought would be delightful moments to cling to when I was old are now nothing more than the heavy weight of regret.
But, being a committed, determined believer in Christ I see the world in a whole different light. They say wisdom comes with age. Mine just took light years to get here.
Wrapped in Satan's clutches
he whispered "Enter In."
With foolish heart
and curious mind
I tumbled into sin.
Ignoring all God's promises
failing to claim Jesus Christ
Rebellious with each breathe I took
as Satan had my life.
But Jesus has the power
to break the bondage of sin.
So I set my eyes upon the Son
and went running home to Him.
And just like nothing happened
He whispered" Come to me."
The bondage has been broken.
I have come to set you free.
So desperately I cling to thee
each moment of the day.
Capturing the words I think
and at your feet I lay,
All the ugliness of life
in everything I do.
A sinner cleansed once again
all because of you.
