The Why Not Principle

Tat ye should have fellowship with 1 Cor. 10:20

I was invited to a function to play some volleyball with other believers. I did not know a soul let alone I had never met the person on the other end inviting me. My first reaction was to stay home even though it was Friday night. It seemed so much easier to just stay in my comfort zone and veg. Then came the words " Why not." Why not get out and meet some new people?

Now I am not the most quiet guy in the room. As I walked in I saw this woman sitting by herself with a down trodden face. I walked up, introduced myself and asked her if she was smiling today? I immediately, like I have seen so many times before, her demeanor changed. A smile came across her faced. It was as if the heaviness of the day had been lifted right off of her shoulders. I took the opportunity to listen as she shared she had to leave her old job due to sexual harassment. But, by the end of her story I had her laughing and I knew God brought me there just for her.

If we are to go where He sends us then I have to always ask myself how am I going to be used.
In every situation we have the opportunity to engage in someone else's life. We also have the opportunity to use our God given, Spirit driven gifts. What would happen if every times we leave the car that we would ask God to go before us and let us meet someone that needs to know Christ. Our purpose driven life is just that, designed and aligned for His glory.

Father,
sometimes it's too comfortable
to sit here in my home.
To gravel in my loneliness
and simple be alone.

But Your love
is an endless love.
That is meant to be shared.
Engaging in a human chain
that sometimes needs repaired.

So lead me to that special one
that needs to understand
that I will walk right by their side
and always lend a hand.
