When We Follow

Be ye therefore followers of God. Eph. 5:1

I used to live in a suburb that was tucked high on a hill. The city skyline glared before me. At night I would crawl up on the condo rooftop and gaze out at the illuminating sky. There was one particular perch that drew the photographers for the awesome sunset show. Amazing sunsets were captured by the trained eye. I would always wait for the photographers arrival and follow behind them. With their trained eye they would wait for the precise moment to catch the rainbow sky. I always knew I would see glorious beauty if I followed behind them and watched.

When we follow Christ we see that same glorious beauty. Watch Him change the heart of a friend that was lost and you will see a beautiful sight. See Him miraculously heal an inoperable ailment and it is a beautiful sight. Listen for the miracles performed and see the changed hearts and you will see a beautiful sight.

Father,
when I walk behind You
I abundantly see
all the beauty
You have granted me.

But as I try to lead
my world has an ugly stare.
And I miss the wonders when You are not there.

Teach me to follow
for I can not lead,
because when I plant the flower
all I grow is weeds.
