I have battled back problems for years. At age 19 I went to weight lifting class and blew out a disc. After Chiropractic care and traction in the hospital nothing worked. So at age twenty I went under the knife.
By and large I am a happy, joyful, nothing can take me down kind of guy. But, when my back is out ,look out. My joy, my Oh Boy is gone. I become anxious, short and tense. Why, how can this happen? It is because all of my focus is driven inside. My self centered selfishness comes out. The enemy uses these times to suck me dry and turn out my light for Christ. I feel like my back is in a vice and Satan is crankin. There are three tools that the enemy uses to separate us from Christ.
Worry is a game that Satan likes to play. He is so good at bringing up things that we don't have control over. He steals our peace and mental battles rage within. Worry makes us mentally weary. Our joy vanishes into thin air and guess who is rejoicing then.
If worry is not kept in check it graduates to fear. Fear grips, it rips and steals our heart from God. Day by day it erodes our love for our Lord. Like a wave moving across the shore it gains momentum. Before we know it we are locked up in chains . Our witness complete disengaged, shut down. Our very conviction torn from us.
What are the solutions to these tools of the enemy? We must accept the fact that there is no peace that can compare with the peace that Jesus can inject dead center into our hearts. Understand that worry beads, a rubbing stone and the rosary can't replace the peace that God will deliver when called upon.
Believe in the freedom we have in Christ. Come before Christ and be complete naked and honest with Christ.
Fellowship is the last combatant we have in fighting the enemy. Seek His face. Fellowship with Him in study and prayer. Do not isolate in your hurting time. During those empty, hurting lonely times of the night there is comfort that is available in Christ and Christ alone.
In the quietness of the morning God's spirit is reborn. Just let Him speak. On a hot day or a cool night watch that worry and fear disappear. Watch those prayers from a friend carry you. Communicate your fears and the enemy does not stand a chance. Do this and you are on the way to defeating the enemy.
I love the Lord because He hears my prayers and answers them. Because He bends down and listens I will pray as long as I breathe. Psalm 116:1,2
Panic ans fear
I have lived them both.
Forgetting my promise,
forgetting my oath.
Fearful and anxious
so far from Christ
I hate to admit
that there was my life.
But my daily challenge
of walking with Him
is the only answer
to conquer this sin.
