A Heart That Is Ready To Leave Jesus Behind

Many years ago I met a woman that was a gifted singer. At age 10 she shared the stage with Amy Grant. She travelled the world in a stand up choir for our Lord. But when I met her she had fallen away. Back slid right off the Christian horizon. She got so caught up in drugs and sex it almost killed her. She was physically abused and her daughter was sexually abused. At one point in her life she was homeless. All because of aligning herself with the wrong people. All because she had let go of God's hand.

After meeting her I had to ask myself how does this happen? How can we be so committed to serve Christ and then end up so far away.Here are some words to dwell on. These actions give Satan the chance to seep, creep into the very fabric of our soul. Notice the simple tactics he uses to shake our foundation.

1. Daydreaming- Wishing you were somewhere else, somebody else. This always rooted in escapism.
2. Prone to worry
3. Insecurity
4.Blasphemous thoughts
5.Thoughts of inadequacy
6. Doubts
7. Lustful thoughts

In Neil Armstrong's book THE BONDAGE BREAKER he list three ways to respond to these "demonic taunts and barbs."

" The most defeated people are those who consider demonic thoughts and believe them. A subtle thought is shot into your mind, " You don't pray, read your bible or witness like you should. How could God love you? " This is a bald faced lie because God's love is unconditional.

The second response is just as unproductive as you try to argue with Satan. " I am not ugly or stupid I am a victorious Christian. " We are not to believe evil spirits nor are we to argue with them. We are to ignore them. With every arrow of temptation, accusation or deception they shoot at you simply raise the shield of faith, deflect the attack and walk on. Take every thought captive to Christ.Col.2:6

You were young and o fragile
when darkness called your name.
To you it meant nothing
you thought it a game.

You"re heart was on fire
but in time turned to dust.
Then you followed Satan
and hungered for lust

How does it happen ?
How could it be o?
That Satan can get us
to leave all that we know?

The master of deception
is waiting to find
a heart that is ready
to leave Jesus behind.

I cried as I saw you
let go of His hand.
Our Savior sweet Jesus
was now just a man.

It happened so slowly
you hungered no more.
And you followed Satan
when he opened the door.

How does it happen
How it could it be so?
That Satan could get you
to leave all that we know.

The master of deception
is waiting to find
a heart that is ready
to leave Jesus behind.

Now when you are tempted.
You find Satan at the door.
Just claim Jesus name
you'll be tempted no more.

Ask in His power
to reject the evil one.
Your prayer will be answered
by the Savior, the Son

And it will not happen.
It will not be so.
That Satan could get you
to leave all that you know.

The master of deception
will turn and he'll run
A heart now protected
by the Savior, the Son
