Spiritual Suicide

They did not cease from their own doings nor from their stubborn way. Judges 2:19

There are things I still marvel at. Things that don't make any sense to me. These things happen every year and I should be accustomed to it by now. But I still wonder. Every year after our last snowfall there are patches of snow that almost in defiance refuse to melt away. They are the last to go as they cling to existence. But what I don't understand is how do they exist. It can be a warm sunny 70 degree spring day and there they are. Somehow they exist right dead center in a field or at the side of the road. There is now way the sun's direct light can miss them.

Our hearts and lives are like that at times. I am defiant to where the Lord is trying to tell me to go. I reject the Son because I want to do things my way. Images come to us that are a clear road map but we detour off because we are enticed by something that looks a lot more fun. The Holy Spirit reveals something to us yet we deny it's access and refuse the request.

Failure to let God melt us down to a state of complete surrender can be Spiritual Suicide. Once found it is not up to God to pursue us but for us to pursue God. It is our responsibility to intimately know the Father and reflect the Son.

I want to be a one hundred percent sold out Christian. I want to melt right into Him. I want to be conformed to His image become His shadow and bask in His Son.

Lord,
melt me of my fears
strip away my doubt.
Fill me of your love
so much that I will shout.

My heart has been unyielding
trying to control.
Help me trust in You Lord
so I will let go.

My stubbornness must yield.
Surrendered to the King.
This is my desire
that You'll be everything.
