Are We Using God Or Is God Using Us

Let no one decieve you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobeience. Ephesians 5:6

I used to know a man that had an incredible ability to memorize scripture. Any conversation with him was often times an avenue for him to impress with this gift. He was very proud of this ability and you could see it when he walked and talked. It really was a gift but it was being misused.

As Christians we often times are associating with other believers. Whether thu our writing or speaking it is easy to sprinkle a Hallelujah here and a praise the Lord there. But I caution you today not to do this.

Remember that God sees the heart. He knows the intent and the depth of your desire to know Him and seek Him. He knows if you are feasting on the word and hungry for His touch. He wants you to be saturated wit Him.

This week I read an article about Billy Graham. At age 88 he still rises every morning to read and study. But, because of his failing health he said it is getting more difficult to read the word. He said he wished he would have memorized more. Can you imagine. One of the greatest evangelists saying that.

Having a command of the word is not for show. It is for grow. It is for us to cradle when we are old. To carry u s when we are feeble. To stabilize us in times of trouble. With it we stand on the rock. Without it we walk in quick sand. When we absorb it, it directs our steps. When we don't we are prone to fall.

If you are one to sprinkle all the right buzz words around Gods children ask Him to change you. Ask for a desire to know the word. Then go out and sow the word. Show the word. Our Father is a bottom line type of guy. The bottom line is what's your intent?

What's my intent Lord
when I'm with another?
Is it all about me
to impress my brother?

Am I listening with my heart
to catch all the pain?
Do I walk them to the cross
to help them start again?

Am I using Your word
to impart and teach?
Or is it a noisy gong
when I try to preach?

The bottom line Lord
is my intent.
Make every thought
pure and Heaven sent.
