Years ago I had the opportunity to lead a friend to Christ. The steps to that were many. A broken relationship that brought her to her knee's. Internal pain that would not go away. A heart that was lost and desperately wanting to be found. She needed a resting place from the human race. A place to run home to.
Often during those time's would receive calls at all hours of the night. Wounded and broken emotions that could only be settled and calmed by Christ. Worries dispelled by two lonely people down on their knee's reaching for the soothing touch of a Father that was always there and that always cares.
My first reaction in desperate times is prayer. So when she would call from her job after a rough night of being wounded or rejected I would hear " Brad, I need your help." I would listen with a heart that could not be worn down but willing to send the message of faithful friendship. At the end while she sat at her desk at work I would say, " Close your eyes and I will pray." The first time her reaction was " Right now." And of course my reaction was ," Right now, right away." I could sense she was uncomfortable but when I prayed it did not matter to her because she knew I was all about trying to transfer the pain onto God's shoulders.
These days I still get the phone calls and I still am there for her but what I hear now is "Brad, I need your help. Can you pray for me." And we do.
May I never be too busy
when someone calls to say
I need to talk to you right now.
I need for you to pray.
No matter what I'm doing.
No matter what the time.
May I stop and listen to the heart
Yes, stop on a dime.
For now might be their moment
for them to come to Christ.
Another heart on their knee's
changed with new life.
