The glory of the young is their strength; the grey hair of experience is the splendor of the old. Prov. 20:29
My ex wife heard somewhere that if you put Preperation H on your wrinkles that you would see them vanish in no time. So, day after day, she was relentless in her pursuit to get e to make those grows feet to disappear. My reaction was "What are you craaaazy?"
I imagined us sitting at a party and when the conversation lulled she wold blurt out, "Guess what, Brad put butt cream on his face." There used to be an old song out years ago and it started out, "You're so vain." When she would come at me with her requests I would immediately go into my karaoke rendition.
Come on now! What are we doing? The underlying message in her request showed a woman that was not growing old gracefully. An attitude that shows I am not happy with who I am in Christ. For we are perfectly and wonderfully made.
In a society that tends to discard the aged God says they are ripe with wisdom. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely, be pure, take care of their homes and do good. Titus 2:4-5.
It is only with age that we gain the experience, those valued lessons, that we can pass on to the youth and help them side step the land mines of life. So go forth. Impart the knowledge. But, stay away from the butt cream.
Tis the evening filled with moonlight
when my lite is going to shine.
The table has been set.
I sit down to dine.
It is my age that does not matter
for God sees the heart.
So come now let's get busy.
There is wisdom to impart.
