A New Heart And A New Spirit

I will put my Spirit upon him Matt 12:18

If I was to stand in front of a room full of people that had recently had heart issues and ask them if they wanted a new heart I would bet every one of them would say yes. Ask that same question to a room full of atheist and they would say, "The one I have is just fine."

We, as Christians have already received the new heart and spirit. But to maintain it we have certain criteria we have to subscribe to. Fail at this and our walk with Christ becomes a weak whisper and one just going thru the motions.

To walk in the spirit we must maintain an attention to the Heavenlies. Three that come to mind are prayer, praise and proclamation.

If our prayer life is weak our walk with Christ becomes a crawl. Prayer is our connection, our communication with Christ. Cut that off and we wander thru life. The spirit can not guide us because we stop attuning our heart to Heaven. The controlling influence of Christ in our lives is at zero.

Praise is where our walk is ignited. It is the inner part where God can influence our emotions. It becomes God's agency. It is the source of our passion and a relinquishing of our will. When we walk thru life with praise on our lips then there is no room for doubt, complaints. The enemy has a tough time winning any battles because when our heart swells to Christ, thankfulness overpowers any negative arrows sent our way.

As we spend our days and nights proclaiming Christ to those around us walking in the spirit becomes as natural as breathing. But, when our voice is silent then our song is sung off key. We forget for lack of habit to fully communicate what Christ has done in our lives. Let us never forget the miracle of redemption in our own individual lives and look for ways to share that when ever we leave the house.

Father,
when I walk in the spirit
and I let You lead
then I am hungry for the Gospel
And You become my creed.

May my voice
be always attentive
to the one's
that don't know Christ.

May He dwell
within me so deeply
that He becomes my life.
