Loving Them To The Cross

We love because he first loved us. 1st John 4:19

Years ago there was a book out called Lifestyle Evangelism. One of the phrases that still stands the test of time is "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
How true that statement is. We won't earn the opportunity to witness and speak of our Jesus until we show that love. It goes on to say that we should find out about our neighbor, our unbelieving friends. If they fish go fishing with them If they ride motorcycles then ride with them. Just find something that binds your heart together.

We must set aside our priorities and let them enter our lives. I had the opportunity to experience that before I became a Christian. Two very faithful men of God entered my life, opened up their hearts and home and let me catch the nuggets that fell out of their mouth. At twenty years old I was of the world. But being around Joe I could see his priorities were far different than mine. When my unbelieving friends chased women to bed them down he said " if you do that you will have so much scar tissue that you won't even recognize love when it does come around. "

When I helped him work on his new house I could see that he had a loving, caring wife and children that he loved deeply. It radiated so much that I wrote this about his wife and gave it to him one day. " Joe, did you know that with just the mention of your wife's name your whole face lights up? Without even saying one word you have taught me about love."

There is no doubt Joe and others loved me to the cross. Behind closed doors they said their prayers and petitioned Christ for my sake. Should you ever wonder if it is worth it I stand to say it is. If you are ever at a loss for words and feel compelled to tell the non -believing friend how much they mean to you then send them these words and let them know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you love them.

The Best That I Can Give

If you could know what I have
You'd put a smile on my face.
For you would have eternal life
and the precious gift of faith.

There would be no drastic changes
but a peace within your heart.
And a perfect understanding
that we would never part.

For I wish to never leave you.
You mean so much to me.
You've brought me through so many things
you've taught me how to see,

all the spectrum's of the world
all the cola rs good and bad
and you were right beside me
when my lonely heart was sad.

So I pray for you each day now
to find Jesus as your friend.
It's the best that I can give to you
the best that I can send.

Each day I drop down on my knee's
and pray that you will find
the precious gift of Jesus
so I won't leave you behind.
