For I will forgive their inequity, and their sin I will remember no more. Jer. 31:34
The purpose of our rear view mirror is to enlarge our view. It helps us see any danger that lurks behind. But, if you fix your eyes on the rear view mirror you are destined to crash. All we need is a quick glance and that is just enough.
Just as in life, a quick glance back at our failures is healthy to learn from. It allows for confession and challenges us to grow spiritually. But, spend to much time dwelling on the past and it is like trying to walk in quick sand. It weighs us down for our today. Our message of Jesus Christ is right now. We become an ineffective saint as the weight of our sin buries us.
Our sins are forgiven. Our past forgotten. But Satan has his way of bringing up the dirty rags and rendering us helpless and labeling us hopeless. This then makes it that much more difficult to carry out the mission of what God has planted in our heart. He ain't stupid. Hurling those haunting memories is what he is good at.
They say that self knowledge is the most important kind. We have the rock to stand on. His word to defeat the enemy and His love to carry us when we fall. I want to challenge you to look in a new mirror. Go stand before and tell me what you see. Do you see a child of a King? Do you see a saint with many gifts that God is patiently waiting to bloom out of that shell? Do you see someone that is blameless and boundless? Do you see the chains fall off and that you are set free by the blood of the cross? He hung on that cross for You. He could have crawled down from the cross. Shake off the skeletons in your closet christian. Stop living in the past christian. Your future depends on it christian.
I am a child of the King.
There is nothing left to say.
I need to walk by faith
and do it God's way.
When Satan comes to try and speak
and fill me with his lies,
I'll see right thru that trickery
as he comes with a disguise.
And my sins are all erased.
All because of Christ.
The keeper of my soul.
The ruler of my life.
