Trust and Hope The One Two Punch

No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful and He will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing He will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it. 1st Corinthians 10:13

One thing I have noticed about divorce is many times it causes great financial strain. How could it not when we build our lives on dual income. Strip one of those incomes away and the house come crumbling down. I travelled that road during my divorce.

During those financial difficulties I had to rely on trust and hope to pull me through. For what ever reason my business had come to a stand still. Houses weren't selling. And no one was refinancing because rates had hiked up. I needed gas but literally had three dollars to my name.
But I decided to trust God and hope.

I went to the gas station knowing I would get but one gallon of gas. As I got out I saw a friend from church. Joe walked over and we started talking. When I stopped at three dollars he asked me what I was doing. I opened up my wallet and said 'That is all I have" Without hesitation he reached in his wallet and handed me $150.00. Then he said "This is a God incident because I usually don't come to this gas station."

I believe God arranged the encounter. I trusted God would work things out. Trust is a quiet, unwavering belief that God is real. That God is alive and completely tuned in to our every need. It is a statement that we will put all of our conviction in God's name and His word. A confession that wealth won't carry us, man is not capable and there is no value in our righteousness. God and God alone becomes the only words that we will speak in our times of difficulty.

Once we trust then hope walks in the door. Hope is an expectation of future good. I t becomes a steadfast reliance on God's blessings and provisions. Hope is believing down to our very last breathe that God can and will do the impossible. It is when we walk with absolute spiritual assurance that God is in control. Trust and hope are a daily diet we can't live without.

My trust is placed in you Lord
the maker of us all.
In difficult situations
it is the reason I stand tall.

A quiet understanding
that in all the things You've done.
I can be in union
with the Savior
the Son.

It is your hope that I will carry
it can not be taken from me.
In spite of how things might look.
In spite of what things people see.

For I believe in miracles
Brought about by You.
So I will walk with trust and hope
in everything I do.
