Are You Overwhelmed?

"God our God" Psalm 67:6

Usually when we here the phrase, " I am overwhelmed" we immediately run to the negative with our thoughts. We instantly think, " They must be overwhelmed with life."

The list of worries is one breath away. Lack of finances that worry us to death. Medical issues that might make everyday a challenge. Relationships that become pulled apart and broken. Disobedient teens that make us want to run away to a far off island.

Yet, there is another way to use this word. I am overwhelmed by Christ. Overwhelmed by the beauty He has created that awaits me out my front door. I am overwhelmed by His goodness. I am touched by His constant care. I am moved by His presence, breathless over His forgiveness.

Us Christians have short memories. Too often our love becomes seasonal. We are distracted by life. We fall short in being a Christ seeker. Christ becomes a secondary matter. Not one moment is spent grieving for Christ on the cross.

I want to be in this overwhelmed state everyday. Oh Christian, let your memory be rekindled. Be overwhelmed with me.



Father,

I want to be moved by Your presence.
Touched by Your love.
I'm a citizen of Heaven
And my home is above.

When life takes my thoughts
Away from You.
Overwhelm me again.
Do what You must do.
