Behold we go up to Jerusalem Luke 18:13
I have a teenage son that is prone to injury. Evey time i look at him he seems to have a new scar or a new bruise. Yesterday I took a close look at him and he had scrapes all down his back. When I asked him what happened he said," I decided to slide down a driveway just to see if I could." This crazy child of mine seems to have a reckless abandon with no regards to his safety.
As Christians we sometimes walk around like this. We somehow allow our relationship with Christ to be broken. We become filled with self desires. We seek fulfillment in things. We desire friends and love from others more than our daily search for our Father.
If we do not hold these things in their proper perspective our relationship with Christ becomes injured. Jerusalem will always bare the mark where Jesus reached his highest pinnacle to do the Fathers will. " I will seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father who has sent me. " Rise to the occasion. Let God manifest Himself in you and through you.
If these words are not in your heart and on your lips then you have some mending to do. Ask the hard questions. Are you farther along in your relationship with Christ today? Is Jesus vibrant and the most important aspect of your life? Are you taken up by God? Does He still take your breath away with just the mention of His name?
Father,
How I long to do Your will
And seek only Your ways.
Repair my damaged heart
So I will not stray.
Destroy my earthly desires
So I can honestly say
" I will seek not my own will
But the will of my Father today."
