The Great Invitation

Then Jesus declared I am the bread of life John 6:35

When my brother was drinking it was common place that he would make statements that would never come true. " Sure I will pick you up and give you a ride home" really meant " You better plan on hitch hiking because I won't be there." It took me awhile to understand that I couldn't count on him in the state that he was in.

Sometimes, we have all made statements about attending a church . " I'll go when my life is more in order." I'll come when my life is together. " But God is ready to meet us in our ugliness. He wants to come to us right in our messed up order. He wants to meet us in our confusion.

God met Nicodemus at his highest point of accomplishment but in his greatest need. Like the woman at the well God finds us in our messed up full of sin life. This where He meets our needs and hears the cry of our heart.

No matter where we are at we all need a Savior. Only Christ can bring true satisfaction. When we fully believe and fully receive Christ we become spiritually satisfied to allow Him to lead and direct our paths. It is not an issue of understanding. The issue is we have a rebellious heart. When we take ourselves off the throne then it is time to put Jesus there. Will you do it today?

Father,

I made all the excuses
And played all the games
To live my life without You.

But now my Father
I can't comprehend
Not doing the things
You ask me to do.

This great divine invitation
Spoken from my heart to Yours
A broken down heart of salvation
Allowed me to walk through the doors.
