that we should not be condemded 1st. Cor. 11:32
If you joined the service and were sent to the front lines would you come back a hero? If you drove by a burning building would you go in to save a life? If there was a major castastrophe would you leave the comfort of your own home to save a life?
During the sixties our neighborhood was struck by a tornado. My seventeen year old brother took action. He walked into a neighbors home and found her paralized in hysterics. All around her was hot electrical wires. As she clung to the cubboards for her life Jim walked in and calmed her to the point of rescue. He recieved a citation from the mayor and was called a hero.
A year later he was working at a resteraunt on the beach docking boats. A drunk driver failed to turn the switch on to cool the motor before take off and the cruiser blew up. His mother was in a wheelchair on the dock and flung into the water. She had shackles on her legs and was going down for the third count when Jim jumped in and saved her.
These circumstances are super natural events in Jim's life but it is not the reason I call him a
hero. I call him hero because he overcame failure. I call him hero because he has overcome the demon of alcoholism. He is free from that vipor for almost thirty years.
What stronghold is God trying to call you out of? What pattern of sinful activity does He want to rip from your clutches? The victory has already been handed over to you if you claim it. We wear a royal robe. Go ahead put it on.
We all love to see the first snow fall. We embrace it with anticipation as it is rich in freshness. It is clean to all eyes that gaze upon it. But by the end of winter it is dirty and depressing. Yet, God never sees our uglily dirty rags. His patient forgiveness never ceases nor runs out. There is no condemnation upon our heads. Be bold in the blood of Christ. Walk away from your strongholds right into His loving arms. He is waiting.
There is a hero living way down deep
In every one of us.
But the truth is you may not see it
Because you are lost in the wilderness.
Claim the name of Jesus.
Put on the royal robe.
Now is the time my precious friend
For Jesus to bring you home.
