You want To Keep Your Life Simple?

Jesus said unto him ,Follow Matthew 8:22

It was when I was a baby believer that I learned the lesson of following. I had been invited to spend the weekend on a house boat with a good number of people. It was geared to be a beer bust and a rocking good time.

That same weekend I was invited to go to a cabin up north with the singles group from my church. As a young single man the boat excursion was tempting but I chose the weekend of fellowship.

We had beautiful weather. I got the opportunity to give my testimony and a great time was had by all.

The weekend boat trip was a disaster. It rained the whole weekend and the weather was frigid.
My friend that invited me said she couldn't wait to hit dry land.

There will be many times we are faced with such choices. You want to keep your life simple, then just follow. You want to lighten the load and surrender the heaviness of your day, follow. When God presses upon you with an idea take it up immediately.

It is in our humanness that we tend to resist at the very moment our thoughts do not agree with what we can not see. But when we give God what we cannot see and walk through the open door with His hand in ours great things will happen.

On judgement day when God reveals the times I followed I would hope they far out weigh the times I rebelled. Just follow.

Father,
The tiniest of things
I will choose to follow.
For I don't want my faith
To ever turn hollow.

Show me what You want of me.
Just lead and I will go.
Calm the storm and part the seas,
So I will surely know.
