Our Actions, Our Attitudes and Our Desires

All my fresh springs shall be in Thee. 87:7

I am sure we have all seen the bumper sticker, If God seems far away who has moved? We certainly know the answer as it cuts like a knife. Especially if you find yourself as a backslid Christian.

Evidence that we have backslid is going to be centered around our actions, our attitudes and our desires.

I am well aware that my past actions have been buried. Praise God that the slate has been wiped clean.So what is important is today. If my actions reflect Christ then Kingdom decisions are easy. When the office party gets raunchy it is time to leave. When an associate has marginal material they want you to look at on the internet, take a stand. When the office party wants to move to the strip joint let them know the Holy Spirit in you wouldn't enjoy the show. The life God wants us to live sets us apart from those actions.

The saddest thing to see is when a Christians attitudes have been diluted. The world has a way of eroding our rightousness so be prepared to take action. When we bring every bit of our thinking in line with Christ then right attitudes follow.

Another way to check for backsliding is our desires. Does it satisfy you to be as near as you can to Christ? Is He alone enough or are you still feeling like you are missing something? Do not dessert the cross for the sake of the world. Simply began the journey back to Christ and you will find Him with open arms.

Father,
I wish and want for nothing
But to be close to You.
I have walked this world
Without Your hand
And found it is something
I do not want to do.

Please deepen my commitment
And widen my desire.
Bring back the hunger Lord
Set my heart on fire.
